Hello, I bought Samsung EVO 250GB to install my OS on and I found Samsung Data Migration software. How to change symbols for a graphin excel on mac. I'd like to ask whether does this just migrate my data or will it migrate my OS with no problems and boot up like the old HDD would? (or is there any difference?) Also if I have to change something in BIOS like main boot order?
Any help is appreciated. Thanks in advance. How much total used space is on your current drive? Yes, it migrates everything from source to target. It also allows you to leave off stuff like doc/music/video, if those are taking up too much space. For your 250GB drive, the total used space must be below 200GB for this to work. Around 40GB, its just w10 and few programs, so around 40GB.
850 Evo M.2 vs 2.5' and other questions Discussion in 'SSDs. Probably migration software and a USB adapter for people installing it as an upgrade. Most mobos come with a couple SATA cables, all you need. Whether the 500GB EVO remains a viable data/games drive (if he were to add an M.2 OS drive later) will depend on the size of his Steam.
No space problems obviously. What I want to know is that if I'll migrate all the data, will the PC boot up windows from SSD with no problems and run like the old HDD? If you follow the correct order of steps, yes. Instal the data migration software 2.
Power off, connect the SSD 3. Disconnect any other drive, except the new SSD and the current C drive 4. Run the Data Migration 6.

You may need to verify the boot order in the BIOS. Assuming everything went OK, it should boot exactly as before, just now on the SSD 10. You may want to power off and on a couple of times, just to be sure. Reconnect the old HDD, and wipe it. Use as needed.
