Hello, I work in IT for my company, and have a brand new MacBook Air, running OS X Mavericks, and Office for Mac 2011, that I am testing for deployment to a user. It's our only Mac in our enterprise environment, a one off. The problem I'm having is when opening Outlook 2011. I can successfully setup and add an exchange account in Outlook 2011 connected to our Exchange 2010 server.

After that, each and every single time I open Outlook 2011, it will open, show my inbox/standard screen, and literally sit there for 3 mins. I can't do anything, click on menu items, scroll, new email, nothing. It will just hang. After 3 mins or so, the program seems to work fine. I've searched the internet, restored the MacBook Air, reinstalled Office 2011, I've even tried different user accounts and setup their exchange accounts in Outlook, with little to no mail, thinking that may be the problem. But it will hang no matter what.

I'm also waiting on a contact back from the local Apple Store's Business Department, though I doubt they will know. Thanks, Mike K.

The problem seems to be widespread across mail servers and clients. Mac Mail, Thunderbird and Outlook are having the same problem. IMAP accounts for some providers do not connect. So far I have the problem with Gmail, Yahoo mail and even Apple's own iCloud. In addition, Mail is now messing up settings and I have to manually reconfigure passwords and server settings and names every time Mail crashes.

El Capitan has seriously messed up email productivity. If you can, do not upgrade or return to Yosemite until Apple for once is serious and fixes it's bugs. This appears to be a widespread issue that is affecting 99% user of users of Microsoft Office for Mac 2011 on OS X 10.11. There doesn't appear to be and fix for this yet. I hope, as I am currently using Office 2011 (14.5.5) and have to plans to move Office 2016 as yet (which I also understands has issues). Office is software from Microsoft, so you will get more assistance from them. However, I understand that the issues are contained within both OS X 10.11 and Office 2011 - so it's a bit of both?

I would imagine that we need to wait from updates from both Apple and Microsoft to address this. Mac set up dictation for microsoft word. In the meantime, I'm not upgrading to OS X 10.11. Keep searching.

Also with Adobe apps. My Macbook Pro Retina mid 2012 with 12 GB of RAM is so unresponsive that I can can take hand off of the track pad and the cursor continues to dance around the screen randomly clicking here and there, opening random apps, for 3-5 minutes after I stop touching it. Of course this ends up opening dozens of apps which taxes the system resources making it even worse. If I reboot and DO NOT open any Microsoft or Adobe apps (basically use it as an internet device) it seems to do better, but come on, I can't work like this.
