Hey, have you managed to play it yet? Otherwise you can run it in wine. There's a port for it in the Porting kit app, go here: install the app and then run it. Click 'Library' at the top, then 'Server' next to 'Local' in the top left corner. Then search for Rain World, click the name in the left column and then install. I've only played 15 minutes or so but it works flawlessly so far. I can help if you have any problems, good luck! Originally posted by:Hey, have you managed to play it yet? Otherwise you can run it in wine. There's a port for it in the Porting kit app, go here: install the app and then run it.

Not really helpful to share this on the steam group. I've only built my own wine bottles using winery. Never used a portingkit version, so i'm not sure how much customization you can do.
Are you sure it is running as Win7? Most of my steam builds are for a single game or two, running different settings / versions of windows. It sounds like that could be an issue, given it saying Wrong Platform. [pretty sure that happens if the OS isn't new enough.] Also, it might be worth checking for engine updates. But again, i'm not sure how that would affect a portingkit bottle. Might be worth trying to make a new bottle. Originally posted by:Hey, have you managed to play it yet?

I attempted today to get the steam version to install as you described. However, this did still result in the notification 'invalid platform'.
Has the approach been tested recently? Maybe there was an update for Rain World and it is no longer compatible with whatever Windows distribution Portingkit is emulating? Maybe it has something to do with High Sierra (most other games run fine so I don't think this to be the case)? This might not help, but here are some other games where I encountered this issue: - Cities: Skylines - Divinity: Original Sin 2 - Natural Selection 2.

Also, just an observation (don't get wrong, is just that I have the need to correct the term 'emulation' when it comes to Wine and PK): PK works above Wineskin, which is made using Wine, which is a compatibility layer, and so, technically, is different from emulation and is much faster;). Sometimes there are differences between Steam and GOG versions, sometimes the dependencies of a port that are installed by Steam break the port, and sometimes it just works:P I don't know if you received that same message with those games, but the error message that you received with Rain World seems pretty fixable, specially if it was Steam who produced it.
