Hello, I'm looking for an OCR software for Mac in which it's possible to edit. In another app (as Omnipage allows to do on windows for example).

Glad you straighten me out! What an asshole am I!: Take a valium before you choke. I simply quoted what's on their website: (), where they state it: does run on OS X, but in 'Classic Environment only'.

If you say that's: not true and it runs natively in OSX, great. At the risk of stepping into a flame war, I can state from firsthand experience that FineReader does NOT work in Classic. A client running 10.3.8 on a twin 2GHz G5 bought a MicroTek i900 scanner which bundles FineReader. The app always seizes or quits at or shortly after launch in Classic. The scanner is great, but was purchased in part because of the software bundle.

Vlc for mac os sierra. VLC Media Player is a great free way to access a variety of media files directly on your Mac, with no conversions required.

Very disappointing FineReader doesn't run. Click to expand. That's is a link to a Classic application as well, you clueless idiot!

I guess you simply do not know the difference between a MacOS X native application and a Classic application, do you? No wonder you call yourself 'New OS X Guy'.

You're such a clueless newbe on MacOS X that you haven't got the faintest idea what you're talking about. Let me give you a hint. Open the folder where FineReader Pro is and set it to 'List view'. The Finder will now show the file type of all the files. Look at the type of FineReader Pro 5.

It's 'Classic Application'. Unable to edit from excel 2008 for mac in windows excel 2010. *ploink* (I should have done that days ago). Click to expand. And, apparently, you're the only one who can. I went to as you recommended and downloaded 'Install FR 5 Pro T&B.hqx'. Decoding the binhex produced a Mac OS 9 installer.

Launching the installer (in Classic) brought up an installer ReadMe which said, in part: ABBYY FineReader 5 Pro for Mac Version 5.0 (9777) Commercial release. Release notes FineReader is compatible with MacOS 8.6 or higher. Under MacOS X 10.x application will operate in Classic compatibility environment.

It is recommended to use MacOS X 10.1 or later. Memory requirements are: 16Mb FineReader Pro application partition; 32Mb of available system memory for recognition and scanning; At least 32Mb of RAM (64Mb RAM is recommended). If 32 Mb RAM used then 80Mb virtual memory is required. You should have QuickTime 4.0 or higher Installer will update CarbonLib to version 1.4, if you have earlier version. Installer will update Help Viewer to version 1.6.3, if you have earlier version. Installer will set TWAIN interface to version 1.8, if you have earlier version. This version has restricted possibilities of text editing.

In particular there is no opportunity to paste or drop any text into text editor window. I didn't complete the installation, choosing to believe the the installer's ReadMe admonition. If New OS X Guy really knows how to download and install a _native_ OS X version of this product, maybe he could share it with those of us who seem to be incapable of accomplishing the feat.
